If you’re new to kitesurfing, you probably have a lot of questions in mind. Do I need kitesurf lessons? What are the basics that I need to know before learning kitesurfing? How do I find a good spot learn? What should I need to take with? Listed here are the 5 FAQ for kiteboarding newbies to learn kitesurfing fast, safely, easily and have a lot of fun!

1) Is kitesurfing easy to learn?

This question depends greatly on your personal fitness, whether you have practiced boardsports in the past and how fearful you are. In our own experience, kitesurfing is actually the easiest to learn of all other surfing sports including windsurfing and surfing. The learning curve is fast in kitesurfing, that provides fast success and gets you hooked in the sport.

2) Is kitesurfing only for super sporty or am I too old to learn kiteboarding?

These two are the most typical questions for beginners. But remember this: you don’t need to be super sporty and you’re never too old to learn kiteboarding! Anybody at any age can learn kiteboarding for as long as you have the persistence and proper attitude in this sport.

3) Can I learn kitesurfing on my own? Do I really need to take lessons?

We suggest you take proper kite lessons! This will help you know the basics and refrain you from trouble. I’m not trying to scare you, but kitesurfing can be the most dangerous sport in the world if you don’t have any idea of what you’re doing. So do yourself a favor and go for the lessons right away.

4.) What are the dangers in kiteboarding and how to  avoid them?

One of the biggest danger is not taking proper lessons. Again, a kitesurfing school will help you get all the important basics you need. Same with all extreme sports, always make sure you’re physically fit and healthy whenever going on the water.

5.) How long will it take to learn the basics of kiteboarding?

It all depends on you, the type of lesson you are engage in, the conditions of the water and the consistency of the wind. Normally, a kite surf beginner’s course is about 10 – 12 hours – the minimum time you need to at least arrive at the waterstart. A few people may learn it in much less time and a few might require a few additional lessons. Generally, it will take you at least 3 – 4 days to finish the beginner’s course.
